Sweet Melissa Kitchen Pies will be offered at the opening of the first of the winter Newmarket Farmers' Markets in the second season this Saturday on November 20th from 9 to 1.
Melissa Clifford of Madbury began baking her pies for others in 2008 when she took special orders for the holidays. She is now offering the same to market goers. Her pies can be pre-ordered for pick up at this Saturday's market if Melissa's contacted by November 18th. Pies can also be pre-ordered for Thanksgiving by the 20th. All pies will be offered for $15 at the market on Saturday. Melissa creates a variety of luscious pies that include Fudgy Turtle Pie (a rich chocolate filling with toasted pecans topped with a caramel drizzle in a flaky, crispy crust); Pecan Pie (a classic filling of crunchy pecans with a sweet gooey filling in a flaky, crispy crust); Old Fashioned Apple Pie (a classic combination of sweet local apples piled high with a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg in a flaky, crispy crust); Apple Cranberry Crisp Pie (a delicious combination of sweet and tart - local apples and juicy cranberries with an oatmeal crisp topping in a flaky, crispy crust); and Maple Walnut Pumpkin Pie (a maple walnut streusel tops a silky smooth pumpkin filling in a flaky crispy crust).
The winter Newmarket Farmers' Markets will be held every 3rd Saturday November through May inside The Stone Church on Zion Hill overlooking Main Street.
